Jamiat SA Calls on Authorities to Prioritise Search for Moti Brothers

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa (JUSA) has called upon authorities to prioritize the search for the Moti brothers after they were kidnapped about five days ago.

While National police task teams including private Polokwane based security companies are following up on a number of leads and doing all they can to determine the whereabouts of the four kidnapped Moti brothers, there has been no clue, ransom demand or contact from the kidnappers. 

Nazim and Shakira’s sons, 15-year-old Zia, 13-year-old Alaan, 11-year-old Zayyad and 6-year-old Zidan were kidnapped on Wednesday after the car they were being driven in en-route to school was cut off by two others along the Tzaneen bypass before seven heavily armed men dressed in white overalls made off with the boys.

In a statement, Jusa says they are deeply concerned about the welfare of the Moti brothers. 

“It is a cowardly act to endanger the lives of young children, through such kidnappings, a phenomenon which we have seen lamentably taking root in the country, in recent years. We call upon all members of the public, across the country, to continue assisting law enforcement authorities so that the boys can be found and get reunited with their family safely.” 

Jusa has commended individuals and communities that have shown solidarity through their calls for the safe return of the boys, their support for the Muslim community of Polokwane and the Moti family.  

“This is a moment when we rally together to unequivocally condemn such criminal acts whose perpetrators have to be apprehended and brought to book, in order to ensure the safety and security of our neighbourhoods, especially for our innocent young ones, wherever they may be.” 

Jusa has pledged their support to the Moti family and have urged South Africans to continue praying for the safe return of the Moti brothers.
