Gauteng Education Dept. Extends 2022 Online Admissions for Grade 1 & 8 to 10 December 2021
The Gauteng Education Department (GDE) has extended the 2022 Online Admissions for Grade 1 and Grade 8 in Gauteng to 10 December 2021.
In a statement, the department says the deadline was on 30 November to place learners, but a massive delay was caused by parents who had not yet accepted placement offers for their children.
The department says it has already placed more than 213,000 of the 335,091 applications it has received.
Spokesperson Steve Mabona says officials are working around the clock to manage the demand schools have against the capacity that they are able to accommodate in Gauteng before 2022 begins.
“We also plead with those who have not yet received an offer to continue checking their application status and accepting available offers of placement by logging into www.gdeadmissions.gov.za as we will be processing applications and sending out more offers throughout this extended placement period. “
He says applications which remain pending for more than seven days will be auto-accepted as placed to avoid further delays.
Mabona says applicants who have missed the deadline to apply to Grade 1 or Grade 8 for the 2022 academic year will be afforded an opportunity to apply during the Late Application period which will begin on 5 January 2022.
