Four Suspects Arrested After Kidnapping a Toddler for Alleged Ritual Purposes in KwaZulu-Natal
Four suspects have been arrested after kidnapping a toddler for alleged ritual purposes in KwaZulu-Natal.
It is understood the 4-year-old was playing with friends at the Dayal Road sports ground on Friday when an unknown man approached them.
The suspect called them to play next to him after which he walked away with the child.
The child’s mother was at work at the time when she received a call from her neighbour informing her that her child was kidnapped.
After an intensive investigation and search by a police task team, the child was later found at Q Section in Umlazi
The police Thembeka Mbele says the toddler has been reunited with her mother.
“All four suspects aged between 17 and 79 were immediately arrested and taken to the Brighton Beach police station for further processing. It is further alleged that the suspects were going to leave at 06:30 this morning to Nkandla to perform a ritual with the child.”
Mbele says all four suspects will appear at the Durban Magistrates Court for kidnapping
