Four Injured in Cash-in-Transit Heist in Carletonville

Four people have been injured after an apparent cash in transit heist on the R501 in Carletonville.

Paramedics say when they arrived on scene on Saturday they found a cash in transit van standing in the middle of the road.

The van was allegedly blown open with explosives.

ER24’s Ineke van Huyssteen says four patients, understood to be the two guards and two support vehicle occupants, were found walking around at the scene.

“Paramedics assessed them and found that they sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. ER24 paramedics, along with another medical service at the scene, treated the patients before transporting them to hospital for further medical care.”

Van Huyssteen says the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not known but the police were on scene for further investigations.
