F1 and motorsport fast-fest to thrill petrol heads at Cresta
The event runs from 20 – 25 March 2025.

As South Africa’s Formula 1 (F1) bid to host the Grand Prix gains momentum, fans can get the adrenaline rush of the live action at a local shopping centre in Johannesburg.
Bidding promoters across the country submitted their final expression of interest bids on 18 March 2025 to be considered for qualification to host an F1 Grand Prix.
In the next phase of the process, successful parties will be expected to submit detailed proposals to host an F1 Grand Prix.
Fast-Fest
While the process unfolds, the 2025 F1 calendar has kicked off with McLaren’s Lando Norris taking the chequered flag, Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen taking second place, and Mercedes Benz’s George Russel coming in at third.
With South Africa expected to host an F1 race by 2027, Cresta Shopping Centre’s adrenaline-fueled Fast Fest from 20 – 25 March will give thrill seekers a chance to experience motorsport.
The exhibition showcases luxury and performance car displays, F1 simulators, live F1 action and motorsport activations and demonstrations.
Eddie Jordan
Meanwhile, former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan died at the age of 76 after battling an “aggressive form of prostate cancer”, his family announced on Thursday.
The Irishman revealed in December he was suffering with bladder and prostate cancer, which had spread to his spine and pelvis.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie Jordan OBE, the ex-Formula 1 team owner, TV pundit and entrepreneur,” his family said in a statement.
“He passed away peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town in the early hours of 20th March at the age of 76, after battling with an aggressive form of prostate cancer for the past 12 months.”
Legend
EJ as he was commonly known, was a true legend of the sport. His passion and contributions to F1 left an incredible mark.
Jordan’s team, which he named after himself, entered 250 races between 1991 and 2005.
They won four times, with Damon Hill leading home Jordan’s best-ever result – a one-two finish at the infamous rain-hit 1998 Belgian Grand Prix.
Jordan also handed Michael Schumacher his F1 debut at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix, with the German going on to win a record-breaking seven world championships.
