Eskom Suspends Stage 2 Load Shedding from 9pm Thursday, Stage 1 to be Implemented Until Friday
Eskom says stage 2 load shedding will be suspended from 9pm on Thursday and stage 1 will be implemented from 5am until 9pm on Friday.
The power utility says its teams have successfully returned eight generating units to service over the past 24 hours and together with load shedding has allowed Eskom to recover the dam levels at the pump storage stations.
Spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha has urged South Africans to use electricity sparingly.
“Unfortunately, diesel tank levels at three of the four OCGT power stations remain low. A unit each at Camden, Komati, Majuba, Tutuka, Matla and Medupi power stations as well as two units at Matimba Power Station were returned to service. One generating unit at Duvha Power Station was taken out of service for boiler tube leak repairs.”
Eskom has apologised for the inconvenience caused by the implementation of load shedding.
