Eskom Confirms Explosion at Camden Power Station in Mpumalanga

Eskom has confirmed that an internal fault has caused a transformer to explode on Unit 8 of the Camden power station in Mpumalanga on Wednesday.

The power utility said the unit produces approximately 190MW.

Spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha said The fire has been contained and no injuries have been reported.

“An investigation to determine the cause, the extent of the damage and the possible return to service is underway. Eskom does not anticipate any supply interruption as a result of this incident.”
