Eskom Announces Stage 2 Loading from Monday 9pm
Eskom has announced that stage 2 load shedding will be implemented from 9pm on Monday night until 5am on Tuesday to conserve and replenish emergency reserves.
The power utility said further breakdowns could force Eskom to continue with the load shedding beyond Tuesday.
Spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha said total breakdowns amount to 16 261MW while planned maintenance is 5 350MW of capacity as it continues with the reliability maintenance.
“Since midnight we have lost the unit each at Camden, Kusile, Duvha and Matla power stations. Furthermore, the return of a unit at Kusile and two units at Majuba power stations are delayed.”
Eskom has appealed to the public to reduce the usage of electricity and to switch off non- essential items.
