Emergency Services on High Alert as Heavy Rains Persist Across Johannesburg
Johannesburg Emergency Services say they are on high alert as heavy rains are expected to persist.
Heavy down pours continued across the city with the South African Weather service (SAWS) warning of severe thunderstorms, heavy rains, damaging winds and the possibility of localised flooding during the weekend.
Joburg EMS’s Robert Mulaudzi says people. need to be cautions during the wet weather conditions.
“We remain on high alert monitoring our low lying areas. We are encouraging all our motorists to exercise caution while driving, maintain a safe following distance and try and avoid cross areas which have been flooded.”
Mulaudzi says Joburg EMS has its specialised water rescue team and also the disaster management teams in all seven regions so that they can respond to any emergencies over the weekend.
