[WATCH] Educators and Students from Darul-Uloom Pretoria Receive COVID-19 Jab
Gauteng Premier, David Makhura has told Wired2News that several educators and students from Darul-Uloom Pretoria (SA Islamic College) have received their COVID-19 vaccination jab at the Zwartkops Drive Thru on the R55 in Centurion.
Makhura visited the vaccination site on Sunday.
South African’s have been urged to get vaccinated as the country prepares for a possible fourth wave of the Coronavirus.
The Zwartkops Drive Thru vaccination site, which is a partnership between the Gauteng Government and the community, was officially opened by Gauteng Premier David Makhura on 12 August.
Makhura has urged Gauteng residents to get vaccinated.
“This week Gauteng will hit new milestones of 4 million vaccine doses administered, 3 million people vaccinated with one dose and 2 million fully vaccinated. We’re averaging 400k doses in a week, chasing 500k. Vaccine coverage is at 25% of adults. Don’t vacillate, let’s vaccinate!”
President Cyril Ramaphosa used his address to the nation on Sunday night to once again allay fears around the COVID-19 vaccine.
Ramaphosa revealed that more than a quarter of South Africa’s adult population has received at least one dose, and over seven million people are fully vaccinated.
“South Africa is fast becoming a vaccination site. We are now administering a million doses every 4 to 5 days. However, we need to do much more.”
On Saturday, the Zwartkops Drive Thru vaccination site also administered its 15,000th COVID-19 vaccine.
