Concerns Raised After 11-Year-Old Grade 5 Girl Learner Kidnapped Outside Mayfair School
Concerns have been raised surrounding the spate of kidnappings in the country following yet another abduction, this time of an 11 year old Grade 5 girl learner at E. P. Baumann Primary School in Mayfair.
It is understood, the girl was waiting in line to be sanitized and screened on Wednesday when she was kidnapped by three suspects with AK47’s in a Silver/White Toyota Yaris.
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi is deeply concerned about the alleged kidnapping of the Grade 5 learner.
Lesfui says police are investigating circumstances surrounding this matter.
“We are pleading with any member of the public who may have witnessed the abduction or knows anything about this incident to approach relevant law enforcement agencies. We condemn the actions of the criminal elements who prey on young learners and our prayers are with the family and friends of the young learner.”
Lesufi says the department’s Psycho-Social Unit has been deployed to the school to provide assistance to learners and staff at the school who may be going through the trauma of witnessing the kidnapping.
The kidnapping comes after the abduction of the four Moti brothers en route to their school in Limpopo.
The siblings were reunited with their parents after three weeks.
