Body of Missing 10-Year-Old Boy Found in Shallow Grave at Relatives House
The body of a 10-year-old boy who was reported missing in Nyezane in KwaZulu-Natal has been found in a shallow grave at a relative’s house.
Ayabulela Abongwe Kubheka disappeared earlier this month from the care of his grandmother who had left him in bed to warm a meal.
Kubheka’s body was found by his uncle after he spotted a dog with a human leg in its mouth.
He later found the dogs digging in the neighbour’s yard and upon investigation discovered the boy buried in a shallow grave before calling the police.
The police’s Thembeka Mbele said the 32-year-old neighbour who was also a relative attempted to escape but was apprehended by the community.
“The suspect allegedly told the community that he killed the boy by choking him because he needed his body to protect his house from being bewitched by people, He dug a shallow grave in his yard and buried him.”
Mbele said the man was arrested and appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder.
“He is remanded into police custody until 6 January 2022 for further investigation.”
Mbele has applauded the community for not taking the law into their own hands and attacking the suspect.
