Apple Says It’s OK to Clean You Apple Products With Disinfectant Wipes

After years on advising customers not to use disinfectant wipes on Apple devices, the tech giant Apple has given the thumbs up to use some wipes to clean their products.

CNET reports the change comes amid panic about the Coronavirus which started in the Chinese city of Wuhan last year.

The respiratory disease has so far infected more 113,000 people and killed over 4,000 others.

With panic buying of hand sanitizer and wet wipes, Apple says it’s now okay a disinfectant on Apple devices as more people look to keep their hands and phones free of germs, particularly as the coronavirus spreads around the world.

“Using a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, you may gently wipe the hard, nonporous surfaces of your Apple product, such as the display, keyboard, or other exterior surfaces. Don’t use bleach. Avoid getting moisture in any opening, and don’t submerge your Apple product in any cleaning agents. Don’t use on fabric or leather surfaces.

Tech companies have also felt the pinch of Covid-19 which has spread across there globe.

Google began restricting visits to its offices in Silicon Valley, San Francisco while the added measure was enacted as word went out that Apple had joined the list of technology firms advising employees to work from home.

Google was already among technology companies including Facebook, Microsoft and Amazon that have given employees the option of working from home instead of going to the office.
