ActionSA Launches Coalition Public Engagement Platform

ActionSA has launched an online public engagement platform which will allow residents to have input into the party’s coalition negotiations.

The newcomer has garnered about 2.3% of the national vote in the local government elections.

ActionSA contested 6 municipalities with the principle that it would not be an opposition party.

Party leader Herman Mashaba says the online public engagement platform is a first of its kind in South Africa.

Mashaba says the party will not limit input to ActionSA voters or members but extend this to all residents who wish to make inputs.

“It is within this context that ActionSA launches this platform, an online engagement which solicits the views of residents of municipalities about key coalition considerations. These include whether ActionSA should enter coalitions, which political parties we should work with and what should be the priority consideration in this process.”

Mashaba on Tuesday said while Action SA will consider coalitions with other political parties, under no circumstances will the party form an alliance with the African National Congress (ANC).

“The only party that approached is me is the ANC and I told them I’ll call them. I can assure you that call will not happen in 300 years.”

Mashaba says the online public engagement platform process will run until the end of Sunday 7 November, adding that the  information will be drawn and analysed by the Senate, where after it would be disclosed publicly.
