Apple Pay Launched for Selected Banks in South Africa

If you are an Apple fan, you will be glad to know that Apple Pay has finally launched in South Africa following rumours about the payment platform circulating in January.

However, it seems only a handful of banks have supported the service, which allows you to pay for your purchases with just a tap of your iPhone or Apple Watch.

Reports indicate that, Discovery Bank and Nedbank support the contactless payment, but FNB, Investec and Standard Bank among other financial institutions are yet to come on board.

To add a card to Apple Pay, customers should open the Wallet app, tap the plus button, and follow the on-screen instructions.

It’s important to note that banks must first add support for Apple Pay. Attempting to add an unsupported bank card will result in a pop-up reading, “Your issuer does not yet offer support for this card.”
