Apple Watch 6 & SE, New iPad Air, Apple One and Everything Apple Announced

Apple has announced a number of news products, including new Apple Watches, iPads, new services, but no iPhone. 

Apple Watch Series 6 

The Apple Watch Series 6, introduced a new Blood Oxygen feature that offers users even more insight into their overall wellness. It  delivers many notable hardware improvements, including a faster S6 System in Package (SiP) and next-generation always-on altimeter. 

Using a new dual-core processor based on A13 Bionic in iPhone 11, the upgraded S6 SiP runs up to 20 percent faster, allowing apps to also launch 20 percent faster, while maintaining the same all-day 18-hour battery life.

An enhanced Always-On Retina display on Apple Watch Series 6 is up to 2.5 times brighter than Apple Watch Series 5 outdoors when the user’s wrist is down, making it much easier to see a watch face in bright sunlight.

For the first time, a new blue colour joins the silver, space grey, and gold aluminium case options, along with a (PRODUCT)RED Apple Watch with  matching bright red bands. Stainless steel models are now available in graphite — a rich grey-black hue with a striking high-shine finish — and an updated classic yellow gold colour. Apple Watch Edition is available in natural and space black titanium.

Apple watchOS 7 brings Family Setup, sleep tracking, automatic handwashing detection, new workout types, and the ability to curate and share watch faces, encouraging customers to be more active, stay connected, and better manage their health in new ways.

Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS) starts at £379 and Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS + Cellular) starts at £479 and will be available from 18 September. 

Apple Watch SE 

Apple also announced Watch SE, packing the essential features at a more affordable price. The Retina display allows customers to easily see more details and the information. 

Apple Watch SE features the same accelerometer, gyroscope, and always-on altimeter as Apple Watch Series 6, and with the latest motion sensors and microphone, it offers robust health and safety capabilities including fall detection, Emergency SOS, international emergency calling, and the Noise app.

Apple Watch SE (GPS) starts at £269 and Apple Watch SE (GPS + Cellular) starts at £319 and will be available from 18 September. 

Apple Fitness Plus 

Apple also unveiled Fitness+, built for Apple Watch, arriving later this year. 

Apple Fitness+ incorporates metrics from Apple Watch for users to visualise right on their iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, offering a first-of-its-kind personalised workout experience. 

Everyone from beginners to committed exercisers can access studio-style workouts delivered by trainers and underscored by motivating music from renowned artists, making it easier and more rewarding for customers to exercise, whenever and wherever they like.

Fitness+ will be available to Apple Watch customers as a subscription service before the end of 2020 for £9.99 per month or £79.99 per year. Everyone can try Fitness+ free for one month.1

Customers will be able to share their Fitness+ subscription with up to five other people in their family with Family Sharing (Apple Watch Series 3 or later required). 

Three months of Apple Fitness+ are included for customers who purchase Apple Watch Series 3 or later, starting 15 September 15, 2020. 

Apple One

Apple One, allows users to get all of Apple’s subscription services in one simple plan, including Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+, and iCloud. With a single subscription. 

Customers in over 100 countries and regions can enjoy Apple services across their devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, and Mac.

Starting this fall, customers with Apple subscriptions will be recommended the right Apple One plan for them so they can sign up with a tap from any Apple device and get even more for less. 

Individual includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud storage for £14.95 per month.

Family includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 200GB of iCloud storage for £19.95 per month, and can be shared among up to six family members. 

Premier, where available, includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+, and 2TB of iCloud storage for £29.95 per month, and can be shared among up to six family members.

Apple One includes a 30-day free trial for any services that customers do not already have.  With the Family and Premier plans, up to six family members can access all the included services with their own personal accounts and preferences.

iPad 8TH Generation 

Apple introduced the eighth-generation iPad, featuring the A12 Bionic chip that brings the Neural Engine to the entry iPad for the first time. 

Starting at £329, the upgrade packs more value into the most popular iPad, featuring a 10.2-inch Retina display, advanced cameras, and all-day battery life. 

Customers can order iPad today, with availability beginning Friday, 18 September. 

iPadOS 14 also brings Scribble to iPad, allowing Apple Pencil users to handwrite directly in any text field, making actions like replying to a quick iMessage or searching in Safari fast and easy — all without ever needing to put Apple Pencil away. 

The new iPad (8th generation) is available to order starting today in more than 25 countries and regions. iPad will be available beginning 18 September 18 with starting price of £329 for the Wi-Fi model and £459 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model, and comes in silver, space grey, and gold finishes in 32GB and 128GB configurations.

iPad Air 

Apple also introduced an all-new iPad Air. Now available in five finishes, iPad Air features an all-screen design with a larger 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, camera and audio upgrades, a new integrated Touch ID sensor in the top button, and the powerful A14 Bionic processor.  

The new iPad Air features a completely new thin and light design in five finishes: silver, space grey, rose gold, green, and sky blue. The new all-screen design features a larger 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display for a stunning visual experience, with 3.8 million pixels and advanced technologies, including full lamination, P3 wide colour support, True Tone, and an anti-reflective coating for an amazing visual experience.

iPad Air delivers a massive boost in performance with Apple’s A14 Bionic making it even easier for users to edit 4K videos, create gorgeous works of art, play immersive games, and more. Using breakthrough 5-nanometer process technology, A14 Bionic is packed with 11.8 billion transistors for increased performance and power efficiency in nearly every part of the chip.

iPad Air, which includes a 7MP front-facing FaceTime HD camera, now features the same 12MP rear camera used in iPad Pro for higher resolution photos and 4K video capture. The new design of iPad Air features stereo speakers in landscape mode, elevating the audio experience so users can enjoy wider stereo sound while watching video. 

iPad Air now features a USB-C port for up to 5Gbps data transfer, which is 10 times faster,2 for connecting to cameras, hard drives, and external monitors up to 4K. With Wi-Fi 6 performance and 60 percent faster LTE connectivity along with A14 Bionic, this is by far the most powerful iPad Air ever.

The new iPad Air is designed to be environmentally friendly and supports Apple’s plan to become carbon neutral by 2030. The iPad Air uses a 100 percent recycled aluminium enclosure and 100 percent recycled tin for the solder on its main logic board. 

The new speakers in iPad Air also use magnets with 100 percent recycled rare earth elements. iPad Air remains free of harmful substances, is highly energy efficient, and uses wood fibre packaging that is recycled or comes from responsibly managed forests.

The new iPad Air will be available starting next month on apple.com and in the Apple Store app in 30 countries and regions, including the US. 

Wi-Fi models of iPad Air will be available with a starting price of £579 and Wi-Fi + Cellular models start at £709. The new iPad Air, in 64GB and 256GB configurations, will be available in five finishes including silver, space grey, rose gold, green, and sky blue.

Software

Apple also announced that iPhone iOS 14, iPad OS 14, Apple Watch OS7 and Apple TV OS14 will be available for download on your devices from tomorrow.
