Man Dies After Car Ends Up in Flooded Hennopsrivier

A man has died after his car ended up in the flooded Hennopsrivier in the Clubview suburb of Centurion.

While details surrounding the incident is unclear, it is believed that two passing cyclists noticed the submerged car on Sunday and called for help suspecting that the driver was still trapped inside.

ER24’s Ross Campbell said the police’s diving unit, GPG Rescue and paramedics arrived on the scene and tried to extract the vehicle from the raging river.

“Just before 1pm, the divers along with GPG Rescue managed to pull the body of a man from the submerged vehicle. ER24 declared the man dead on arrival and handed the scene over to the South African Police Services.”
