Thousands Flock to Second Comic Con Africa
While there were some cancellations by big name stars like Marvel’s Falcon actor Anthony Mackie and Game of Thrones star Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran, sitter on the Iron Throne), this did not deter the thousands of people who flocked to the first day of the second Comic Con Africa.
The event which is being held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand from 21 to 24 September, is bigger and better this year with a lot more exhibits, cosplay, gaming, superheroes and entertainment for fans.
Some of the stars that will be making an appearance during the four-day event include William Shatner from Star Trek, The Vampire Diaries’ Daniel Gillies amongst others.
Voice actors Nolan North and Troy Baker will also be among stars attending.
Comic Con has also partnered with Telkom VS Gaming for the second consecutive year to bring the very best of eSports to the event.
Telkom VS Gaming is hosting two Masters tournaments – one for South Africa’s leading competitive game, DOTA2, and the other for the popular objective-based, multiplayer first-person shooter game, CS:GO.
Also for the first time the kids will have a special area dedicated to them with the largest Lego event in Africa on display.
There will also be a Nerf Zone where kids can show off their blasting skills, a fully-sized Jaguar F-Pace on display, loads of toys and many photo opportunities for the whole family.
Tickets are available through Computicket and at the door but do not begin until 9:00 each show day.
If you’re six years or older, you’ll need a ticket to enter. Children under the age of six will be admitted free charge, while children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
