Seven Killed, Two Injured in Vanderbijlpark Crash
Seven people have died and two others injured after two bakkies collided on the R553 in Vanderbijlpark.
Paramedics say they arrived at the scene early on Saturday to find the two vehicles in the middle of the road.
ER24’s Russel Meiring said medics found the bodies of six men and a woman, aged between 14 and 30 lying on the back of the bakkie including the front of the vehicle.
“Unfortunately, all seven patients had already succumbed to their injuries and were later declared dead. A male passenger from the bakkie and the male driver from the other bakkie were assessed and found to have sustained serious injuries. The patients were treated and transported by other services to nearby hospitals for further care.”
Meiring said the details surrounding the crash is unknown, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
