Mop up Operations Underway in Lenasia South after Rain Destroys at least 80 Homes

Mop up operations are currently underway in Lenasia South after heavy downpours.

At least eighty homes in Hospital Hills were damaged by the rain which left a trail of destruction and also many areas flooded. 

Ward councillor Puseletso Nzimande told The Sowetan municipal entities will start clean-up operations on Monday. 

“Residents are piecing their lives together. They are helping with rebuilding homes and cleaning up houses after heavy rain on Thursday night.” 

NGO Gift of the Givers’ have also responded to needs of the Hospital Hills community. 

Gift of the Givers Shehnaaz Mohamed said they provided blankets, hygiene packs and hot meals on Saturday to affected residents and will also be distributing food parcels and clothing.
