Five Bangladeshi Nationals Rescued after Being Kidnapped in Delmas

Police, the Hawks and other authorities assisted by security company Vision Tactical have rescued five Bangladeshi nationals on a smallholding near Delmas.

It is understood the foreign nationals were being held against their will.

According to a tweet by crime activist Yusuf Abramjee, the men were kidnapped after entering South Africa.

A ransom was demanded for their release.

Abramjee tweeted four Pakistani nationals including two South Africans have been arrested.

Last week Mpumalanga police rescued a Pakistani national after he was kidnapped by a human trafficker. 

Police say they received information that two Pakistani nationals who were trafficked to South Africa via Malawi to Mozambique and held hostage by a human trafficker based in Mpumalanga in Malelane and Valencia.

There has been a spate of kidnappings in the country including that of businessman Yaseen Bhiku who was abducted in Lenasia after returning from early dawn prayers at a local mosque.
