DBE Complies with Court Not to Publish Matric Results – Urges Candidates to Register
The Basic Education Department said it will comply with the court’s decision not to publish the 2021 matric results and has urged candidates to register on the DBE website to view their results when they become available.
The Department said it received representations from many organisations and individuals following the decision to stop publishing National Senior Certificate results on media platforms.
To comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) act and in the best interest of the learner, the department said it has engaged with a number of role players including the Information Regulator and the South African National Editors Forum (SANEF).
“In view of the latest developments with regards to the release of the 2021 Matric Results and the impending litigation, the Department has decided that it will abide by the decision of the Court.”
Candidates will have to go through a two-step verification process before receiving confirmation of their registration and getting their results.
The DBE website is zero-rated, which means there will be no data charges.
The 2021 matric results are due to be announced on 20 January.
