Criminals have broken into a tobacco wholesaler in Lenasia.

According to a tweet by Crime Air Network, the suspects gained entry into the business by breaking a perimeter wall on Friday.

It is believed that the robbers were almost 4 hours in the premises.

It is unclear if any goods were stolen.

In a separate crime incident, robbers broke into a home in Lenaasia, extension 13.

The home was ransacked.

These incidents are the latest in a string of crimes being committed in Lenasia including two other robberies in Agapanthus and Smew Avenue, a hijacking in extension 5 and the kidnapping of businessman Yaseen Bhiku  after returning from early dawn prayers at a local mosque.

Social cohesion activist Yusuf Abramjee told Wired2News there must be a proactive approach to get crime under control in Lenasia and surrounds.

Abramjee said police, the Community Policing Forum (CPF), ward councillors and the community itself also need to unite and fight the scourge.
