Robben Island Museum Announces New Walking Tour for Visitors

The Robben Island Museum (RIM) has announced a new Walking Tour, which will allow tourists to explore Robben Island’s rich history and biodiversity while walking in the footsteps of South African legends. 

During the tour, visitors will visit eight historic sites, including the Maximum Security Prison, the Land of Banishment for Xhosa Chiefs, the World War II Precinct, the Agricultural Precinct and the Lime Stone Quarry among other sites. 

Rim’s Siphuxolo Mazwi said the walking tours will offer tourists a new and exciting option. 

“Against the backdrop of the economic onslaught of COVID-19 on the global tourism industry, we have had to re-evaluate our offerings and find ways to improve the visitor experience, particularly to attract repeat visitors in the domestic market.” 

The new tour will start on Friday 31 December 2021 and the tickets will be available from 28 December on the online booking platform. 

The tariffs for the new walking tours start at R620 for South African children while adults will pay R1,000. 

Non-South African children will pay R820, while the adults will pay R1,400.
