Two Killed, Five Injured in Carletonville Accident

Two people have been killed and five others injured after two motor vehicles collided head-on on the R501 outside Carletonville.

Paramedics say on arrival at the scene on Monday, they found both vehicles on the side of the road.

ER24’s Russel Meiring said details of the accident is unknown, but authorities were on scene for further investigations.

“Medics assessed the patients and found that the man inside the one vehicle and the woman lying outside the second had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead by the Provincial EMS. The five other patients were found with moderate injuries.

Meiring said the patients were treated and transported to Carletonville Provincial Hospital for further care.

Meanwhile, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning for severe thunderstorms and urged motorists to be cautious on the roads.
