Sahpra Approves Booster Shots for Pfizer & J&J COVID-19 Vaccines

The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) has approved the booster shot of the Pfizer vaccine. 

This approval is for the vaccination of people six months after the administration of the second dose

SAHPRA has also approved the booster shot of the Johnson and Johnson (J&J) vaccine at least 2 months after the first jab.

The Health Department said booster doses are the same vaccine in the same dose administered to people who have had a primary vaccination series and are administered to allow the body to boost its immunity to the COVID-19 virus.

As of Tuesday, 31.6% of the population had received at least 1 dose of  COVID vaccine while 26.4% have been double vaccinated
