Two Killed After Car Crashes into Wall as JMPD Arrests Another 34 for Drunk Driving

Two people have been killed after a car crashed into a wall.

The accident happened in Midrand on Friday night.

The Johannesburg Metro Police’s (JMPD) Wayne Minnaar said: “The two deceased were both passengers from the vehicle and were removed to Hillbrow Mortuary. The driver was slightly injured and will be charged with culpable homicide. Motorists are urged not driver recklessly this festive season.”

At the same time, Minnaar said another 34 people were arrested for drunk driving on Friday night.

The arrests are part of the JMPD’s festive season safety campaign.

On Thursday, officers handcuffed 44 drunk drivers in Joburg.

Minnaar says the motorists were arrested in the CBD, Roodepoort and Sandton.

“Those who were arrested were detained at a various police stations after blood samples were taken.”

Minnaar says more are road safety operations are planned for Saturday night in various areas.
