Parliament Wishes Ramaphosa a Speedy Recovery after He Contracts COVID-19

Parliament’s Presiding Officers, National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces Amos Masondo has wish President Cyril Ramaphosa well following news that he tested positive for COVID-19

Ramaphosa is currently in self-isolation in Cape Town after contracting mild symptoms of the virus on Sunday.

The Presidency on Sunday said Ramaphosa started feeling unwell after leaving the State Memorial Service in honour of former Deputy President FW de Klerk in Cape Town on Sunday.

The Presiding Officers said they are confident Ramaphosa will overcome the virus

“The Presiding Officers are encouraged that the President remains in good spirits, that he is taking all necessary precautions to beat the infection, and continues to champion the campaign for all South Africans to vaccinate and adhere to all COVID-19 safety protocols.”

Ramaphosa saID his own infection serves as a caution to all people in the country to be vaccinated and remain vigilant against exposure.
