[WATCH] Illegal Houses & Shacks Demolished in Lakeview Informal Settlement Near Lenasia South
A number of illegal houses and shacks have been demolished in Lakeview informal settlement near Lenasia South.
The Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) said the operation was carried out by the Red Ants on Monday.
Last week the JMPD demolished illegal structures erected in Hospital Hills in Lenasia South.
The mushrooming of illegal shacks and unauthorized land grabs have become a common occurrence in and around Lenasia South.
The JMPD’s Wayne Minnaar said: “Fifteen houses and at least sixty shacks were demolished today in an operation. This operation was carried out where there was illegal shacks that was constructed without approval and these shacks was unoccupied.”
Minnaar says the operations to remove other illegal structures would continue in the area.
