Action SA leader Herman Mashaba says he will never go into an alliance or coalition agreements with the African National Congress (ANC).

Mashaba was briefing the media at the Independent Electoral Centre (IEC) Results Operation Centre (ROC) in Pretoria on Wednesday.

Action SA has emerged among the top six political parties in the local government elections which took place on Monday.

While counting is still underway, Action SA has made great progress in various municipalities including winning its fist ward, Ward 25, Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal.

Mashaba says while Action SA will consider coalitions with other political parties, under no circumstances will the party form an alliance with the ANC.

“The only party that approached is me is the ANC and I told them I’ll call them. I can assure you that call will not happen in 300 years.”

Mashaba says Action SA is a new party and not a small party and thanked voters for “making history with us.”

“We are very happy with the results. We have achieved our first objective of unseating the ANC. We are here to govern and unseat the ANC.”

Mashaba says one of the core values of Action SA is social justice and it’s not going to be “a political party focusing on cutting grass when people need toilets.”
