South Africans from Various Communities & Religious Groups Come out in Support for Safe Return of Kidnapped Moti Brothers

Thousands of South Africans from various religious communities have come out in support and are praying for the safe return of the Moti brothers who were kidnapped in Polokwane. 

Nazim and Shakira’s sons, 15-year-old Zia, 13-year-old Alaan, 11-year-old Zayyad and 6-year-old Zidan were kidnapped on Wednesday after the car they were being driven in was cut off by two others along the Tzaneen bypass before seven men made off with the boys.

The siblings were on their way to school when they were kidnapped. 

While Nazim and Shakira Moti have urged the public to come forward with any information that may lead to the whereabouts of the brothers, South Africans have been standing in solidarity with the family praying for the return of the children. 

Humanitarian and human rights defender Catherine Constantinides in a tweet said the Moti brothers are part South Africa’s children

“These are not just four children of a family from Polokwane, these are OUR children as a nation. I cannot begin to imagine the horror for the family & for these 4 boys. Please contact the authorities if you have any information! Let us pray for their safe return.” 

The Muslim community among others religious communities of different faiths have been engaging in prayers at Mosques, Churches, Temples and Synagogues that the Moti brothers are unharmed. 

Social cohesion activist Yusuf Abramjee have urged South Africans from all communities to continue to pray for the safe return of the Moti brothers. 

“Let’s keep the Moti siblings in our prayers. They were kidnapped in Polokwane yesterday. Kidnappings have become a major problem in South Africa and these gangs are dangerous.” 

While many people have taken to social media expressing their concerns, the public have been urged to refrain from spreading fake news about the kidnapping as it may jeopardize the case.
