Soweto Electricity Protest Flares Up Again, Motorists Urged to use Alternate Routes

Johannesburg Metro Police say the Soweto protests over electricity has flared up again and have urged motorists to avoid the area.

The JMPD says the community have barricaded Nicholas Street and sections of a Main Road in Orlando East with rocks on Monday.

Spokesperson Wayne Minnaar has urged motorists to use alternate routes.

“Motorists should avoid Nicolas Road and can use Emming Drive as an alternative route for this evening.”

Eskom implemented stage 2 load shedding on Friday which is expected to continue at least until at least Thursday morning.
