The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has removed South Africa from the list of countries placed under a travel ban from the 8th of September.

The news bodes well for South Africans who want to travel to the Kingdom for Umrah and possibly Hajj in 2022.

The Saudi Interior Ministry announced that Argentina and the United Arab Emirates have also been removed from the travel ban

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reports an official said the ministry decided to lift the suspension of entry to the Kingdom from these countries through the land, sea and airports was based on reports submitted by health authorities about the stable coronavirus pandemic situation in these countries.

Saudi Arabia in February slapped a travel ban on 20 countries to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus Delta variant.

According  to SPA, Saudi officials will  continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in countries who had travel bans lifted with the  Health and Interior Ministry’s  urging  the public to take two doses of the vaccine before travel.

In July it banned its citizens from travelling without completing their vaccine doses.
