JMPD Arrest 44 Drunk Drivers in Joburg During Festive Season Road Safety Operations
The Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) have arrested at least 44 motorists for drunken driving in Johannesburg.
It is understood the drivers were handcuffed on Thursday as part of the JMPD’s festive operations and road safety campaign.
The JMPD Wayne Minnaar said more operations are being planned on Friday and Saturday night.
“Those arrested were taken for blood samples then they were detained at police stations. Newly appointed MMC for safety in Johannesburg David Tembe said ‘drunken driving and lawlessness will not be tolerated.”
