Themsie Times who Played Maria in 7de Laan on SABC Passes Away at 70
Themsie Times who played the role of Maria in the popular Afrikaans soapie ‘7de Laan’ on SABC has passed away.
The 70-year-old Times played the role for 13 years between 2003 and 2016.
In the soapie, she worked for Septimas ‘Oubaas’ van Zyl’s (played by Pierre van Pletzen) family for years, since he was a child.
She also had a close friendship with Aggie (played by Mimi Mahlasela).
Maria was known for having a guesthouse in QwaQwa, which was often referenced as her
home for when she eventually retired.
In a statement, the SABC said that she was a phenomenal actress “who warmed her way into our viewer’s hearts and homes.
“Our deepest sympathies to Themsie’s family, friends and fans at large”.
