Samsung has launched what it claims is the “world’s first Wind-Free air conditioner”.

Samsung says the Wind-Free air conditioner system uses 21,000 micro-holes to gently spread air evenly throughout the room, maintaining a comfortable level of coolness without any draft.

Head of digital air solutions Robert Larkin says the new range of air conditioners are also very efficient.

“It also reduces the noise levels and saves up to 55% energy compared to conventional cooling.”

Larkin says  The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) defines air to be still if the velocity is less than 0.15 meters per second, which means people can’t feel or detect the wind blowing on them thus coining the phrase “Wind-Free”.
