With the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and to keep track of all aspects of health, smart wearables have become a much needed piece tech to have.

A number of companies have placed emphasis on wearables and Fibit has also innovated with new products boasting great features.

Fitbit has unveiled the new Fitbit Charge 5, a step up from the previous version featuring not only GPS, but also an ECG (Electrocardiogram) app that checks your heart’s atrial fibrillation and an EDA (Electrodermal Activity) Scan app that tracks changes in sweat level that might indicate stress.

Similar to last year’s Fitbit Sense, the Charge 5 boasts a few more features focused on well-being and stress management.

It features a full colour 1.04” AMOLED display and SpO2 monitoring which has become very important in the COVID era.

The Charge 5 includes an electrodermal activity sensor to measure your body’s response to stress, which allows the Fitbit app to provide a Stress Management Score.

Available in several colours; Graphite Stainless Steel, Soft Gold Stainless Steel, and Platinum Stainless Steel, the Charge 5 will retail at a recommended price tag of R3 999 and R599 for accessories like watch straps

Fitbit says the Charge 5 will be available this spring (between September and November) at several South African retailers such as Makro, Incredible Connection, Takealot.com, and Dischem.
