Red Ants Remove More Than 600 Illegal Shacks in Lawley

The Red Ants have removed more than six hundred illegal shacks in Kokotela, Lawley Extension 2, South of Johannesburg.
Illegal land grabs and structures have become rife in Lenasia, Lenasia South, Lawley and surrounding areas with many of these informal holdings illegaly tapping into electricity and water services.
The Johannesburg Metro Police’s (JMPD) Wayne Minnaar says the operation to remove the shacks was carried out on Wednesday.
“A total of 695 illegal structures were removed today. The operation was conducted by the Red Ants. JMPD officers were present to ensure the free-flow of traffic and that the operation had to be done in a safe manner.”
