40 More People Succumb to COVID-19 in South Africa
Forty more people have died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus.
The latest fatalities have pushed the country’s death toll to a grim 89,555.
Over the same 24-hour reporting cycle, 585 people have tested positive for COVID-19.
The majority of new cases are from Gauteng (33%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (18%).
The Western Cape accounted for 16%, Eastern Cape 10%, Mpumalanga 7% and Free State 6%. North West accounted for 4%, Northern Cape 3% and Limpopo 2% of new cases.
On the vaccination front, about 24.4 million jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine jabs have been administered so far.
