383 More Hospitalised for COVID-19 as SA Records 13,147 New Infections
South Africa has recorded another 13,147 new Coronavirus infections.
This pushes the country’s known caseload since the start of the pandemic to more than 3,051,200
This increase represents a 23.8% positivity rate.
Twenty-seven people have also died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus, pushing the national death toll to 90.002.
So far, 2,864,000 people have recovered from the pandemic.
The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng with (64%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (11%), the Western Cape accounted for 6% while the North West accounted for 5%.
Mpumalanga accounted for 4%; Eastern Cape, Free State and Limpopo each accounted for 3% and the Northern Cape accounted for 1% of the new cases.
On the vaccination front, about 26,4 million jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far.
The NICD says there has also been an increase of 383 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
