3-Year-Old Girl Mauled to Death by Pitbull in Eastern Cape

A three-year-old girl has been mauled to death by a pitbull in Zwide.

It is understood that the little girl was playing with other kids on Sunday near her house when the dog attacked her.

Police say the dog belonged to a teenager from the same street but was currently out of town at the time of the attack

Spokesperson Priscilla Naidu said an inquest docket has been opened.

“The dog was stabbed multiple times by a resident who tried to save the child. She sustained several bite wounds on her neck and face and succumbed to her injuries at the scene.”

Police have urged residents to make sure that their property is secured and that their pets remain within their secured boundaries.
